Below are just some of the things we'll be learning this year!
August
Language Arts:  initial and final consonant sounds, syllables, rhyming words, capitals (days, months, names, I, first word in sentence)
Math:  shapes, counting to 30, bar graphs, ordering numbers from smallest to largest, addition facts to 10, doubles to 18, ordinal numbers to 6th

October
Language Arts:  singular, plural, possessive nouns, long vowels, compound words, end marks captializtion (special places i.e. stores) letters and sounds (ng,qu,ce,ci,long vowels)
Math:  measuring length, number words to 10.

December
Language Arts:  letters and sounds (long oo, short oo, ow, aw, au, kn), commas in a series, capitals (cities & states)
Math:  using a ruler, tallying, adding 2 digit numbers without regrouping

February
Language Arts:  reading comprehension, past tense verbs, adjectives that compare, pronouns

Math:  counting by fives, identifying nickels


April
Language Arts:  rhythm (beat of a poem), plural  past tense verbs, pronouns

Math:  subtraction facts, subtracting 2 digit numbers without regrouping
September
Language Arts:  main idea, details, antonyms, adjectives, types of sentences, short vowels
Math:  counting backwards from 10, subtracting from 10, counting by tens, telling time to the hour, even numbers, identifying dimes and pennies.


November
Language Arts:  adjectives, verbs, letters and sounds (gi,ge,ow, long vowel)
Math: dividing objects in half, paying for objects usins dimes & pennies)

January
Math:  doubles  plus one facts, congruent shapes, counting to 100, counting by tens from a single digit number



March
Language Arts:  end marks, contractions
Math:  dozen and 1/2 dozen, measuring using feet, identify 1/2, 1/2, 1/6, space shapes, adding 3 single digit numbers, counting dimes, nickels and pennies, measuring and drawing line segments to nearest centimeters.

May
Math:  reading a thermometer, subtracting half of a double
